Our Weekend

Yours truly feeding a sow.She was massive.I'd hate to meet a boar!

Middle class Edwardian dress.

Working class dress during the Edwardian period. The working class did not follow fashion.

I.C found a huge "tractor".Here is he is perched gracefully on it like a big girl.

L.B struggled desperately hard to smile, but just couldn't manage it.

  1. The plaid dress likes similar to what we wear...

Have you by chance read any of the Amish books that are breaking out in print here in America? Amish fiction is very popular for some reason. Probably because people are fascinated by them?? Beverly Lewis, Wanda Brunsetter, Cindy Woodsmall are very popular...

  2. Yes, I really fancied that apron.I really could do with one for art too.

I have heard about those Amish books; books of nostalgia, hope, disappointment, romance, true love and stereotypical portraits of the Amish.Only read one though, it was Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult and based on an ethnical dilemmia versus religion and focused on the cultural clash. There isn't much of a market for Amish books in Ireland, because very few Irish people have heard of the Amish or even of Anabaptism.

  3. Jodi Picoult writes for the secular market, but I’ve heard her books are excellent. I haven’t read any of her novels as I am wary when it comes to secular literature.

I’m not a huge fan for the Christian Amish fiction but lots of my friends are. A demand for Amish fiction came in big waves after the shooting at an Amish school in Pennsylvania last year. All of sudden Amish novels are popping up everywhere, hitting best-seller list like nobody’s business!
